My dad used to say, “Old Principals never die, they just lose their Faculties. And, old Teachers never die, they just lose their Principals (i.e. principles).” This is also the man who said, “I’d give my right arm to be ambidextrous.” Yeah, I had an interesting childhood.

I do believe that many of us have either lost our principles or have forgotten what they are. Principles are like physical laws – for instance, gravity. They work every time they are tried, and they work even if you know it and like it or not. You can use physical laws to your advantage, or they can destroy your life if ignored. Understanding the Law of Gravity has led to inventions like airplanes, rockets, parachutes, hang gliders, and many more. Ignoring the Law of Gravity has led to serious injury, and even death.

The same is true for life’s principles. Understanding them, you can use them to become successful beyond your wildest dreams. Or you can ignore them and suffer the consequences. They are akin the sails, rudder, and anchor of a boat. If you just let the wind and the rudder take you wherever they take you, being dashed to pieces on the rocks is in your near future. However, if you use them properly, you can sail anywhere your heart desires, even against the wind, which always has blown me away.

Over the next week or so, I will be posting about the seven principles of life that, if understood and used properly, will serve to guide you to the right direction for your life. These principles are as follows:

  1. You are responsible for the decisions you make
  2. Seek wisdom more than gold or silver
  3. Be quick to decide and slow to change your mind
  4. Choose to be someone others want to be around
  5. Greet each day with a forgiving spirit
  6. Persist without fail or exception
  7. Action is what sets things in motion

Some of these principles may seem obvious – because they are. However, just because something is simple, it is not necessarily easy. More on that later. Suffice it to say that there is more to these than meets the eye…a lot more.

As you read the next group of posts, you may be wondering if there is some way to get all of this at one time. As a matter of fact, it is. Part of what I do is give Workshops, Seminars, and Retreats covering in detail all of these principles, and a whole lot more. To see my current speaking schedule, click here. While some of the events are private, others are open to the public. If there is space available, consider getting tickets. It just might be the thing you need to get your life back on track.

Or, if you would like to book me at your venue, drop me an email at steven@co-inspire.biz and ask for my current media kit. Whatever the case, be sure to visit this blog regularly for updates and more wisdom from one of the most influential persons in my life, my dad. Yes, he said and did some very strange things, but he taught me more about life than any other person on earth. Thanks dad. And I truly mean it.

Who in your life inspired and taught you? Let me know in the comments below, and then, if possible, be sure to let that person know how much you appreciate them.
